“Give to support each other”

One donor to Spartanburg Regional Foundation’s annual employee campaign calls Spartanburg Regional “a huge family that loves to give to support each other.”

Each year, Spartanburg Regional associates step up in a big way and 2019 was no different.

Associates donated $1,274,091 – the most in the Foundation employee campaign history – to support programs and projects throughout the hospital system.

These gifts make a difference for countless patients, including:

  • Newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • Heart attack survivors undergoing physical rehabilitation
  • Uninsured women in need of mammography screening
  • Patients in hospice care

“As always, we are truly grateful for the donations of employees. They are extremely generous, and many tell us that they appreciate the opportunity to give back to make our health system stronger,” said Foundation Director of Philanthropy Shelly Sinclair, who heads up the employee campaign.

Spartanburg Regional is a growing health system, and Sinclair said the Foundation works hard to engage employees and support the needs of patients at all campuses and office locations. This included the new team members at Cherokee Medical Center and Spartanburg Medical Center — Mary Black Campus.

Foundation Executive Director Kristy Caradori touted the success of the 2019 employee campaign and thanked those who participated.

“SRHS employees are the backbone of our health system, and they are among our most generous donors to the Foundation,” she said. “Every single day of the year, Spartanburg Regional team members provide for the health needs of community members. Their donations to the Foundation are an extension of that commitment to others, and we are very grateful.”

Why they give

A few employees shared their reasons for giving at the Foundation’s employee campaign website,

“Hearing the stories and the thank-you sentiments is meaningful when you know another life has been changed through the compassion of the medical staff at our various facilities and the financial contributions we can share.”

“The contributions to the community from the Spartanburg Regional Foundation are phenomenal … SRHS is an awesome place to work, a great place to give back, and the best place for health care.”

“Providing resources that improve community health is the gift that keeps on giving.”
