Energy in a can

By Alan Jenkins on November 1, 2018

Maybe it's late at night and you're pulling an all-nighter. Maybe you didn't get enough sleep last night, or you know it's going to be a long time before you lay your head on a pillow again.

You reach for a slim aluminum can and hope that energy drink keeps you focused and alert.

Pounding those cans back can result in a caffeine overdose that can lead to heart palpitations and potentially long-term complications.

Cardiologist Nalin Srivastava, MD, explains the risks in this Discover Health video segment, originally aired on FOX Carolina.
