Cleveland Park Events Center
Falls in people ages 65 and older are among the most common injuries in that age population. As a result, many seniors are unable to remain independent.
The Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) program is a free fall prevention program that includes a one-hour, twice-per-week group fitness class where all participants work at their own pace. Anyone over the age of 50, including those who use walkers or canes, can participate in the SAIL program.
Registration is not required. Please join us at any session that fits your schedule.
Cancer Support Group: Hybrid

The Survivorship Program offers a monthly opportunity for cancer patients and survivors to connect with one another. This unique offering is available to all cancer patients and survivors at no charge.
Research shows that taking part in support groups, where you both give and receive help, is an effective way to reduce the stress and anxiety that can come with a cancer diagnosis. This support group will be led by Jen Arsenault, LCSW, LISW-CP of Therapeutic Alliance, LLC, Boiling Springs, SC.
This event will be held in-person at Gibbs Cancer Center in Spartanburg. If you are unable to attend in person, please email [email protected] to receive the link to attend virtually.

Join Carolyn Bailey, Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator, each Wednesday, for Balance and Breathe Yoga. Slips, trips and falls are the leading causes of injury for older adults. This class is designed to help prevent the process of deterioration and loss of muscle mass that can lead to falls.
Registration is not required. Please join us at any session that fits your schedule.
Beginners are welcome. You must be able to get on and off the floor without assistance.

Sleep isn't just important for your energy levels — it's critical for your overall health, too. Good sleep helps your body repair itself. But tossing and turning at night can have consequences, including increased risk for stroke and cardiovascular disease. The good news is that sleep hygiene, along with diet and exercise, is a modifiable risk, and it's never too late to make changes.
Join us for lunch to hear Trisha Fair, clinical manager with Spartanburg Regional's sleep services, share how poor-quality sleep affects our overall health, how sleep disorders are diagnosed and the best therapies and treatments available.

The Survivorship Program offers a free, unique opportunity for patients and survivors to explore their experiences and feelings through writing.
The focus will be on expressive, no-rules writing that will be designed to provide a safe space to explore challenging and traumatic issues in relation to your cancer diagnosis. This is a 6-week series with Thursday evening sessions.
This series will be led by Greenville SC writer, Lindsey DeLoach, and is hosted in partnership with Hub City Bookshop. Research shows that writing can effectively reduce stress by providing a healthy outlet to express thoughts and feelings related to stressful situations, which can help individuals process emotions and gain perspective, ultimately leading to a calmer state of mind.
Community Blood Pressure Screening

Senior Action
Nearly half of American adults have high blood pressure. High blood pressure increases your risk for serious health problems, including stroke and heart attack.
Pelham Medical Center partners with Senior Action Greenville to offer free blood pressure screenings. In addition to having your blood pressure checked, you will receive a tracking card to help keep up with your numbers plus education about what the numbers mean and ways to control hypertension.

Infant CPR offers lifesaving safety information. This non-certification infant CPR class is designed specifically for expectant parents. Our essential hands-on class provides the skills and confidence to turn a life-threatening situation into a lifesaving one. Come gain the confidence, skills and knowledge essential to saving an infant's life.

Music Therapy-Cancer Patients and Survivors
Tuesday, April 8, noon to 1 p.m.
Gibbs Cancer Center - Spartanburg
The Survivorship Program offers monthly opportunities for survivors to fellowship with one another while engaging in music therapy.
Music therapy interventions can target a variety of healthcare goals such as promoting wellness, managing stress, alleviating pain, expressing feelings and emotions, enhancing memory, improving communication, promoting physical rehabilitation, sensory processing and more. This session will be hosted by Carolina Music Therapy.
This unique offering from the Survivorship Program is available to cancer survivors at no charge.

Learn everything you need to know about the childbirth process and the options available during pregnancy, labor and delivery. In this class, we provide the information you need to reduce anxiety and help you have a more positive birth experience. Prepared Childbirth is a comprehensive, fact-based and fun class covering various topics about your baby's birthday.
Art Therapy-Grief Support

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System-Hospice Home
Laura Zeisler, Assistant Art Professor at Converse College, will engage the audience in different forms of art therapy. The type of art will change based on the participation and the skill set of the registrants. No prior art experience is necessary.
This program is for those who are grieving in our community and registration is required. Please only choose one session.

Cooking up Confidence

Virtual
Cook along with various healthcare professionals from diabetes education, food services and cardiology from the comfort of your own home.
Cooking Up Confidence is a series of four virtual cooking classes and will cover different cooking techniques to make home-prepared meals easier and fun! Recipes can be adapted to meet your family's needs.
Classes meet virtually from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m. on March 13 and 27, and April 10 and 24. You can attend one class or all classes. The registration link is for all four classes.
Classes are inspired by local FoodShare Spartanburg produce boxes but are not required to participate. The recipe and grocery list will be sent out the Friday before class.
If using a box, you will need to pre-order, purchase, and pick up a box before each class. It's easy!

This course prepares expectant parents for their baby's arrival. Topics include breastfeeding, diapering, bathing, and medical and safety information. A local pediatrician and a perinatal educator will lead this class.
Cardiac Connection: Forest Bathing

Wednesday, April 16, noon to 1 p.m. Heart Wellness Center-Spartanburg
Shinrin-yoku or Forest Therapy is the art of being present in all the body's senses while in a wooded area. Benefits include lower heart rate, blood pressure and stress hormones. This practice can boost your immune system and your mood. Come join us as we learn more ways to care for your heart!
Cardiac Connection is a monthly community group that supports people of all ages who have experienced a cardiovascular event such as a heart attack or stroke, had surgery related to the heart or are at risk for heart disease. Relevant topics and speakers vary each month. Bring your lunch and a friend!
In addition, we offer encouragement and lifestyle improvement activities. You may also connect with others who have had similar experiences. If you or a loved one are interested, please join us.
Breast Cancer Support Group - Hybrid

The Survivorship Program offers a unique, monthly opportunity for breast cancer patients and survivors to connect with one another at no charge.

Diabetes Wellness Circle
Tuesday, April 15, noon to 1 p.m.

Join us at noon on the third Tuesday every month for this hybrid (virtual and in-person) support group. Meetings are designed for 30-45 minutes of education followed by 15-30 minutes of discussion. Please join the meeting then stay as long as you are able.
This is a hybrid meeting, so you may come in person or join us virtually through Microsoft Teams. If you would like to come in person you must call (864-560-6487) or email Madison ([email protected]) to reserve your seat in the classroom as space is limited. Our breastfeeding class is an in-depth introduction that includes the benefits of breastfeeding for mom and baby. In this class, you will learn about milk production, feeding cues, latching techniques, milk storage and problem-solving tips for successful breastfeeding.
Skin Cancer Screening-Gaffney

Gibbs Cancer Center-Gaffney is hosting a FREE skin cancer screening event open to the public. Start the spring by checking your skin! A spot skin cancer screening is fast, easy, and pain-free.
This screening is open to anyone that is not currently under the care of a dermatologist.

Weight Loss Surgery - Online Support Group

This group provides Upstate area support for patients in all phases of the weight loss surgery process. Combined with the help of friends and family members, this support group allows you to network with others who have experienced similar challenges and lifestyle changes after weight loss surgery. Patients who have not yet had surgery are encouraged to attend.
Safe Kids 101 for New and Expecting Parents
Thursday, April 17, 4 to 5 p.m.

This one-hour webinar includes safety topics that will help you keep your child safe and avoid accidents and injuries.
This class will share information about basic car seat features, installation techniques and how to choose an appropriate car seat based on your child's age, height and weight.
Learn ways to avoid accidents in the home involving fire, burns, drowning, falls and poisonings. Know how to identify safe and unsafe sleep environments for your baby.
This is an online event. You will receive the link to the event after you register.

During this comprehensive course, offered by Spartanburg Medical Center and Safe Kids of the Piedmont, you will learn about South Carolina's child passenger safety laws, the safest way to secure your child in a vehicle, proper car seat installation, when to update or replace your child's car seat and other safety tips to help keep your child safe on the road.
Attendees who have violations of the child passenger occupant law on their records can receive a certificate of completion as proof of participation. This class is only offered once for child passenger occupant violations.

Colorful Cooking at Home: Breakfast Cookies by a Toddler

Lamaze Childbirth education classes at Spartanburg Medical Center serve families no matter what type of birth they are planning for. All classes within the Lamaze Childbirth series present evidence-based information for normal and safe birth, influenced by the Lamaze 6 Healthy Birth Practices. Classes provide in-depth information for expectant families, reducing their fear or anxiety while building confidence and preparing them for birth.
Please note this class is a two-week series and will meet for two consecutive Sundays from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.
In this class series you will learn about:
-Lamaze Six Healthy Birth Practices, Relaxation Exercises,
-Anatomy/Physiology of Normal and Undisturbed Birth,
-Techniques for your Support Person, How to Minimize Discomforts of Labor,
-Communicating with your Care Provider, Benefits and Risks of Common Medical Interventions during labor
-Planning for Postpartum, Breastfeeding and Newborn Care and more.
Each Lamaze Childbirth Educator is a labor and delivery nurse as well and is up to date on birthing practices and policies.
All Prenatal Education Classes at Spartanburg Medical Center include you and a support person with each registration.
