On October 17, 2016, Spartanburg Regional Foundation will host An Uplifting Event luncheon to a sold out crowd of more than 600. This special event promotes breast cancer screening and raises funds to ensure that no woman goes without a potentially life-saving mammogram.

Last year, 1,633 women accessed screening thanks to more than $140,000 raised at the event. Proceeds benefit the Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health, which continues a long tradition of promoting breast cancer awareness, screening and support.

“Breast cancer remains the most common cancer impacting women,” said Kristy Caradori, executive director of Spartanburg Regional Foundation. “The Uplifting Event supports early detection, which saves lives. We are passionate about this cause and excited to host this premiere event empowering women and everyone who loves them.”         

This year's Uplifting Event co-chairs are Carole Davis and Lib Orr.  Speakers include Dr. Larry Warren and breast cancer survivor Jennifer Orseck.

Jennifer was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. 

“Too frequently, women tend to wait and watch symptoms and get wrapped up in taking care of other people. We want to help women bridge that time and financial gap,” Jennifer said. “I never would have known I had breast cancer without my mammogram. It saved my life.”
