Dr. Natalie Vajta returns to Medical Group of the Carolinas to continue compassionate care for children
Dr. Natalie Vajta has always loved kids, so becoming a pediatrician was a natural fit for her – putting her in a position to provide compassionate care to patients from birth to adolescence.
“There was no question I wanted to go into pediatrics. Caring for kids is such a special thing we get to do, and it’s not only treating the child but the family as well,” she said.
Dr. Vajta previously practiced at Medical Group of the Carolinas – Pediatrics – Boiling Springs before moving to the Washington, D.C. area to work in an outpatient pediatric practice. She is excited to return to Medical Group of the Carolinas to live and work in the Upstate again.
She is now accepting new patients at MGC – Pediatrics – Westside.
Dr. Vajta graduated from Furman University in 2011 before attending medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. She went through Prisma Health’s pediatric residency program before joining Spartanburg Regional for the first time. She later worked for the Children’s National Pediatricians and Associates in Clinton, Maryland.
In the Washington, D.C. area, Dr. Vajta incorporated advocacy work into her practice, particularly around educating children and families on the issues of gun safety, violence and illicit drug use.
“I want to advocate for kids, and I am always wanting to help encourage families and children to realize there’s more that we can all be a part of within our community,” she said.
After two years in the D.C. area, Dr. Vajta was excited to revisit where she began her career and reconnect with former colleagues and patients.
Dr. Vajta grew up in Greenville, and her parents and sister still live in the Upstate.
When not treating patients, Dr. Vajta is a foodie and enjoys experiencing the culinary scene and traveling.
As a first generation American, Dr. Vajta is half Korean and half Hungarian – and exploring new cultures is close to her heart. She likes to tell patients how to pronounce her name – “it’s Vajta, like vitamin,” she said – so they feel comfortable calling to make appointments.
Dr. Vajta views her role in pediatrics as leading a collaborative effort with the child and the family.
“And I enjoy just being with them through the good times and also hard times, no matter what,” she said.
